You can now register for the third version of PLASMA! A competition focused on finding the best ways to roast coffee. The only competition in which the competitors are also judges.

The format is simple:

1. All competitors will have access to the same green coffee, to be defined. They will have approximately 1 month to analyze, roast and taste it.

Registration includes shipping* within the Metropolitan Region of 1 kg of coffee, but you can add additional kilos up to a maximum of 5 kilos in total**. Each competitor will be able to roast in the machine they have access to or that best suits them. All competitors are advised to use small roasters.

2. After that time, all competitors will have to deliver a 100-150 gram sample of the same coffee with their version of the best possible roast.

They must indicate the general parameters of their roasting —initial temperature, final temperature, time, development percentage, etc.— and provide the roasting curve. The deadline for submitting samples is February 28.

3. A tasting event will be held where all competitors will taste and evaluate the samples blindly. Each competitor will choose their favorite sample; the sample with the most votes will be the winner.

The reference format will be based on the new Coffee Value Assessment (CVA) of the SCA. The tasting date will be Sunday, March 2.

4. The competitor who roasted the winning sample must make a brief presentation of his roasting curve and general parameters.

It is hoped that the opportunity will be used to share information and improve working conditions.

IN ADDITION, the first place in the competition will receive (1) Cash Prize *** and (2) 5 kilos of coffee of their choice from the coffee catalog of sponsor Sarabi Specialty Coffee.

LIMITED SEATING. REGISTRATION CLOSES ON WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 5, 2025. Delivery of the competition coffee will begin when registration closes.

* Competitors outside the Metropolitan Region may arrange for the coffee to be picked up from the DOSISBEBIDATIEMPO Studio, or receive the coffee by paying via Starken or Correos de Chile.
** Each additional kilo will have an increasing cost of $5,000, $7,500, $10,000 and $12,500, respectively.
*** The prize money will be equal to 15% of the total registrations, or $100,000 CLP, whichever is greater. The prize will be awarded to the winner on the same day of the event in cash.

DOSISBEBIDATIEMPO reserves the right to refuse admission, especially towards people with a clear history of workplace abuse or other conduct that threatens the physical or psychological integrity of members of the industry, or the ideals of specialty coffee.
